Nesting Planned Maintenance Routines

Nesting Planned Maintenance Routines

Nesting means linking two or more routines together so that the correct routine is raised into a work order. So it is applicable only when your asset is linked to two (more) routines.

The Problem

Say, you have a 1 month, a 3 month and a 12 month routine linked for a boiler.  Before nesting,  there will be two or three services due in some months. This means that you'll have two or three work orders raised for the same job, which is unwanted because the 12-month service contains the details of the 3-month service and the 3-month service contains the details of the 1-month service.

The Solution

To overcome this problem, the best way is to nest the 1-month service under the 3-month service, and nest the 3-month service under the 12-month service. When they are both due, the system will only raise one service into a work order.

Notes

Please note that routines can be nested only when they have the same frequency type, the same due date, the same skill, and the Planned Work Type should match "Fixed."
